What is Lemvos?
Verein LEMVOS helps vulnerable people in Greece who find themselves in existentially difficult situations. Either they cannot be admitted to the existing health or social systems, or the existing health systems do not provide adequate support programs. For such people, their lives and dignity are at stake.
Our Mission
Verein LEMVOS supports individuals who find themselves in an extremely difficult, undignified or even life-threatening situation. On the one hand due to their life history, illness or age, and on the other hand due to the inadequacies of an overburdened health and social service system in Greece. In parallel, it supports projects in cooperation with other volunteers and NGOs to improve the quality of life of disabled people.
Our assistance is primarily financial. Through a network of local partners (mostly NGOs and associations) and supportive friends in Greece (doctors and other professionals), we can also offer the following help:
- in finding care facilities and housing
- handling bureaucratic matters
- support in job searching and dealing with authorities
